Vintage 1950s 1960s National Cycling Proficiency Enamel Badge
Original vintage National Cycling Proficiency enamel badge, awarded to children who successfully completed the British Cycling Proficiency Test.
Features the classic triangular red enamel design with a cyclist to the centre and the words National Cycling Proficiency around the edge.
The National Cycling Proficiency Scheme was introduced nationally in 1958 and became a familiar part of British childhood, teaching generations of schoolchildren road safety and practical cycling skills. Successful participants received a certificate and badge.
A lovely piece of British cycling, road safety and social-history memorabilia with plenty of nostalgic appeal.
Original pin fastening remains to the reverse. Good vintage condition with age-related wear. Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
